12 Things To Do If I Have An Auto Accident

  1. STOP - it is illegal to leave the scene of an accident.
  2. DIAL 911 - if anyone needs urgent medical care.
  3. CALL THE POLICE - or Highway Patrol.
  4. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY - don't admit fault or make a statement until you talk to Berglund & Johnson.
  5. DON'T SIGN ANYTHING - except a traffic ticket.
  6. COOPERATE WITH POLICE - give only facts, not opinions.
  7. SHOW THE OTHER DRIVER your driver's license, car license number and insurance company information.
  8. TAKE PICTURES of your vehicle and your injuries (preferable not Polaroid).
  9. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY - you may have injuries you are not aware of.
  10. REPORT THE ACCIDENT to the DMV within 10 days (if you are uninsured call Berglund & Johnson first).
  11. NOTIFY AND COOPERATE WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY - remember, however, they may not be on your side now that you have a claim.
  12. CALL BERGLUND & JOHNSON to protect your rights; to answer your questions; to have the legal burden of this accident lifted from you and to request a 12 Things To Do Brochure to keep handy in your glove compartment.
